MUSIC EDUCATION WITH A DIFFERENCE
Pastorale Conservatoire of Music (PCM) was established in 1990 with the aim to provide a holistic musical approach to nurture music enthusiasts to appreciate the totality of music. With a humble start of offering classical music lessons for both violin and piano with only 3 teachers, PCM has since grown leaps and bounds and now operates in three locations, Taman Overseas Union, Kuala Lumpur , Puchong Jaya and Kuchai Lama ( WaterMusic Academy) with the assistance of over 25 teachers.
Guided by the motto, “We Teach From The Heart”, PCM is selective when engaging music teachers for our students. With a strong pool of professional and qualified teachers trained both locally and overseas, PCM does not confine itself to conventional music classes. We hold courses and masterclasses for performers, music appreciation classes for young children, music composition and musicianship.
Renowned performers, pedagogy experts and professional musicians are also frequently invited to conduct masterclasses and seminars.
These extras are aimed at exposing both teachers and students to a broader spectrum of music and to elevate the overall standard of music.
Since its inception, PCM has produced fine musicians at all levels. Yearly results from different examination boards bear testimony to the high standards PCM takes pride in maintaining.
Students are not only taught to pass exams but also the art of performing, whether as soloists or in an ensemble. For that purpose, in 2010, the Pastorale String Ensemble was formed to provide its students opportunities to perform in public concerts.
To inculcate a sense of moral responsibility towards society in our students, PCM also holds a public charity concert biannually, performed by the students and teachers of the school. Its total proceeds are donated to various charities from hospices to animal shelters.
Besides gaining a reputation for providing quality music education, PCM is also established as a purveyor of fine string and keyboard instruments that are handpicked by the founder to ensure only premium quality products are sold to its customers.
